At the General Assembly on 24 October 2018, the decision was taken to expand activities to include the area of "Integration in Switzerland". The reason for this is that an increasing number of asylum seekers or volunteers from other organisations are seeking help and advice from us.
There are often situations where asylum seekers need psychological support, legal advice, assistance in dealing with authorities or other specific support.
Through our involvement in other NGOs and through contacts with other organisations, we are repeatedly confronted with the problem that there are also gaps in advice and support for refugees in Switzerland.
We are currently working on a concept for a multi-stage project: First, a place of encounter is to be created. A typical problem is that asylum seekers are often unaware of existing support services for some of their specific needs. On the volunteer side, too, there is often a lack of knowledge about complementary services provided by other organisations. As a first step, we therefore want to build up a low-threshold service that will competently support the individual. We do not want to copy already existing offers, but instead, where possible, we want to mediate to these offers. In order to be able to react appropriately to individual requests from asylum seekers and to be able to place the person in suitable positions, comprehensive networking work is planned.
But a place should also be created where locals and refugees can meet. We want to counteract the isolation and exclusion of asylum seekers through education and educational work.
